Coronavirus: 6,590 new cases, 58 deaths, 617 intubated


The new laboratories confirmed cases disease Covid-19 recorded in the last 24 hours in Greece are 6,590, of which 11 were located following checks at the country’s gates.

The new deaths of patients with Covid-19 are 58, while since the beginning of the pandemic a total of 20,350 deaths have been recorded. 95.2% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.

The total number of cases amounts to 1,070,833 (daily change + 0.6%), of which 50.4% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 213 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 2,686 are related to an already known case.

The number of patients treated intubated are 617 (60.0% men). Their median age is 63 years. 79.1% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 518 (83.95%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 99 (16.05%) are fully vaccinated.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,713 patients have been discharged from the ICU.

The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 312 (daily change -8.77%). The average seven-day admission is 321 patients. The median age of cases is 38 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).

From January 1, 2020 until today, in the laboratories that perform tests for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and that systematically state the total of the samples they test, a total of 8,026,066 clinical samples have been tested while from Health Units and Scales of EODY performing Rapid Ag tests 37,136,155 samples have been tested. The seven-day average is 348,497 sample checks.

As of December 24, 2021, 65,931,062 statements of self-diagnostic result have been recorded electronically, while 3,780,232 people came for re-examination.

On December 24, 2021, 135 sampling actions were carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY) of EODY, in which 30,440 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 642 positive (2.11%) were found.
