Cuba – First case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus


Cuban health authorities say they have identified the first case of the Omicron variant of the new coronavirus, saying the infected person had traveled to Mozambique, the state-run ACN news agency reported late Wednesday night.

The person, a member of the medical staff living in the province of Pinar del Rio, returned to the Caribbean island on November 27 and was diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 the next day, according to ACN.

His contacts are being tracked after he returned, according to ACN.
