SEC Media Days are taking place this week, and a handful of SEC schools just so happen to be in the running for one of the top players in the region. Branson Robinson, a four-star running back from Madison, Mississippi, will make his verbal commitment live Thursday on CBS Sports HQ at 3 p.m. ET. You can watch the announcement live in the video at the top of this page, on the CBS Sports App or via your connected device (Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV).
The No. 1 player in Mississippi will choose among a finalist list of Alabama, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson and LSU. 247Sports’ Crystal Ball projections have Robinson giving his pledge to Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs, but in-state program Mississippi State is also considered to be in the running as well.
In 2020, Robinson rushed for 1,179 yards and 15 touchdowns at Germantown High School. The 5-foot-10, 220-pound back is also a track athlete. In his scouting report of Robinson, 247Sports recruiting insider Clint Brewster wrote:
Rocked up, thick framed running back with NFL muscle and strength as a high schooler. Bruising runner with great steam between the tackles and churns out yards after contact. Consistently grinds out short to intermediate runs. Shows efficient movements as far as jump cuts and cut-back ability. Big time production and is built to carry the load. Shows some good explosive twitch and recorded elite level broad jump and vertical jumps on the camp circuit. Doesn’t appear to have great straight-line speed to run away from defenders at this stage.
247Sports Composite rankings list Robinson as the No. 4 running back prospect and the No. 46 overall player in the 2022 cycle.
