European Parliament calls for equal rights for all workers and food distributors


The European Commission has presented its long-awaited proposal to improve the rights of workers on digital platforms, such as food distribution services.

The European Parliament, for its part, is calling for the same rights as for traditional workers, such as social security contributions and the protection of their health and safety.

“This proposal for a European regulatory framework for work through platforms is an opportunity to look at the future of work and to adapt legislation to the new realities of the world of work. The negotiations for
can now start with two priorities in focus: adequate protection for workers on platforms and a European framework
“Favors innovation,” said rapporteur Sylvie Brunet.

In September 2021 the EP called for improved working conditions for those
work in food transport and delivery services, as they are often mistaken for self-employed.
