The number of people diagnosed positive in Covid-19 in Spain since the start of the pandemic in 2020 has reached 8 million, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
The number of cases has increased by 162,500 in the last 24 hours.
The rate of infections in the last 14 days increased to 3,192 cases per 100,000 today, according to government figures, compared to 3,156 cases per 100,000 on Thursday.
The total number of people infected with Covid-19 is 8,093,036, while the number of dead is 90,759, according to the data.
From November, the numbers of infections are constantly increasing, due to the greater transmissibility of the Omicron variant and the gatherings during Christmas. However, hospital admissions remain at much lower rates than in previous waves.
