According to an announcement, on the initiative of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, the president Stavros Kafounis and the special secretary Manolis Loudaros met at the offices of the Hellenic Statistical Authority with the president Athanasios Thanopoulos and executives of the institution.
During the meeting, the representatives of the commercial world were informed about the operation of the Hellenic Statistical Authority as well as about the methodology and sources for obtaining statistical data concerning the economy and in particular trade.
Mr. Kafounis stressed the important help offered by the monthly and quarterly reports as well as the indicators that record the development of trade in our country during this difficult period and proposed the separation of the turnover of large food and fuel stores from the retail indicators, so that the final statistics reflect the real market situation.
He then called for the further strengthening of the association’s cooperation with ELSTAT by launching a channel of direct communication between the services of the two bodies, in order to utilize more detailed individual statistics for the benefit of the commercial world.
Mr. Thanopoulos accepted the proposal, made available to the association the Directorate of Statistical Enterprises and assured for the timely sending of trade reports as well as the start of cooperation for the utilization of individual geographical and sectoral data.
