Suez Canal: 11 killed in clashes between soldiers and terrorists


An officer and ten soldiers were killed today at Egypt while trying to prevent a “terrorist» attack in its area Suez Canal, near Sinai, as it became known to the Egyptian armed forces

Five other soldiers were injured in the operation, according to the military, which said security forces were “continuing to pursue and encircle terrorists” in “one of the isolated areas of Sinai”.

The soldiers were killed after they clashed with a group of gunmen who attacked a water pumping station east of the Suez Canal, an army spokesman said.
