A village school near the eastern Ukrainian city of Lisichansk, home to the community’s last refuge, was hit by a bomb amid fighting on Saturday, local officials said. It is estimated that there were about 90 people in this underground shelter.
A rescue operation is under way, officials added, citing about 30 people trapped in the wreckage. No official casualty figures have been released, at least so far.
At the same time, six civilians, including two children, were killed and 12 others were injured when Russian rockets hit the eastern Ukrainian city of Privila, officials said via Telegram.
