The Russian and Ukrainian Defense Ministries say an adversary warship was destroyed. Moscow says a ship was hit by a missile near the southern city of Odessa, kyiv says it sank the frigate Admiral Makarov, near Snake Island.
“The military parade of the Russian fleet on May 9 this year will take place on the seabed,” the Ukrainian ministry wrote with images that apparently destroy the ship by a drone.
On May 9, Russia celebrates Victory Day, as Russians commemorate their victory over the Nazis in World War II. This year, Russian President Vladimir Putin also wants to reflect on the war in Ukraine. Western intelligence suspects he also wants to hold a military parade in already conquered cities, such as Mariupol.
Both claims have not been verified by independent media. In addition to the ship, Russia claims it also shot down two Ukrainian bombers, a helicopter and four fighter jets. The countries have not yet responded to each other’s demands either.
Ukraine has previously claimed to have sunk the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moskva, with a Neptune missile. Moscow, on the other hand, spoke of a fire, but admitted later last month that the ship had sunk.
Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 destroyed another Russian ship. This time the landing craft of the “Serna” project. The traditional parade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on May 9 this year will take place near Snake Island – at the bottom of the sea.
