Germany: Exit polls give CDU clear winner in Schleswig-Holstein election


The Christian Democratic Party (CDU), led by incumbent Prime Minister Daniel Guder, is clearly winning elections in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, according to the first exit polls of German public television ARD.

The CDU receives 43% (32% in 2017), the Greens 19.5% (12.9%), the Social Democratic Party (SPD) 15.5% (27.3%), the Liberals (FDP) 7% 11 , 5%), the South Schleswig Voters’ Union 6% (3.3%) and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) 4.9% (5.9%) and is in danger of not participating in the next Parliament.

The current state government under Daniel Guder, who is considered the most popular state prime minister in Germany, consists of the CDU, the Greens and the FDP.
