The West was preparing to invade our land, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, in his speech on the Day of Victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
“NATO posed a threat to our borders, and the West did not want to listen to Russia,” Putin said. He added that the special military operation in Ukraine was a necessary and timely measure, the only right decision.
Volunteers and Russian troops in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine are fighting for their homeland, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today.
“You are fighting for your country, for its future,” Putin said in a speech at the annual Red Square parade in Moscow on Victory Day over Nazi Germany in World War II.
“The death of every soldier and officer is painful for us,” he said. “The state will do everything to take care of these families.”
Putin ended his speech by shouting at the assembled soldiers: “For Russia, For Victory, Long live!”
