In the context of the adoption of the new European System for the Classification of Skills / Abilities, Qualifications and Professions (ESCO), the OAED organizes the Thursday 16 December 2021, from 11:00 to 14:30, the Internet Conference “ESCO, Skills and Job Integration”.
In the relevant announcement, the Organization states that: “The aim of the Conference is to highlight the importance of the adoption of ESCO at the national level, as well as its wider advantages for all bodies related to the classification of skills / competencies, qualifications and professions.
Representatives of OAED, the European Commission, social partners, academics and researchers, as well as the business world, will analyze the importance of ESCO for the European Public Employment Services, as well as its key contribution in areas such as skills development, diagnosis skills needs and the combination of labor supply and demand according to business needs.
In the 1st Part of the Conference will be presented the course of adoption of ESCO by OAED, as well as the influence of the new classification system in the process of coupling supply and demand of labor. Presentations will follow on the integration of ESCO by the European Public Employment Services (PES), as well as on ESCO’s contribution to determining the dynamism of skills in the Greek labor market, at national, regional and local level.
Part 2 will analyze the importance of ESCO for the labor market from the point of view of academics and research institutions, social partners, but also the business world. Particular emphasis will be placed on ESCO’s contribution in areas such as skills development, diagnosis of skills needs, matching labor supply and demand according to business needs.
In Part 3, starting from the previous presentations and analyzes, key current issues will be discussed such as the strategy for lifelong learning, the improvement of skills in the transition from education to employment, the matching of skills with the needs of the labor market. ».
OAED, in the same announcement points out that: “It is reminded that, from Monday, December 13, 2021, all OAED services now operate based on ESCO. OAED is the first Greek Organization to adopt this innovative tool, the integration of which was implemented through the project “MATCHING”, with the co-financing of the European Program for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI).
The ESCO was developed by the European Commission as part of the Europe 2020 strategy, so that Member States can communicate in a common language. The ESCO classification identifies and categorizes skills / competences, qualifications and occupations in direct relation to the labor market, education and training in the EU, systematically presenting the relationships between the various concepts. Today, ESCO covers 2,942 professions and 13,485 skills / abilities.
