Nintendo expects to sell far fewer Switch consoles this year than they did last year, the Japanese games console company reported Tuesday morning with the announcement of its annual figures.
Nintendo has been able to manufacture fewer game consoles over the past year due to ongoing chip shortages. This is why the expectation has already been revised downwards from 24 million to 23 million copies sold. This goal was narrowly achieved with 23.06 million copies. In the current year, Nintendo expects to sell 21 million Switch consoles.
the pokemonthe games continue to be hits for Nintendo. From the January issue Pokemon Arceus 12.6 million units have been sold to date. Bestsellers pokemonthe games are on Switch pokemon sword and shield† To date, 24.3 million copies have been sold.
The best-selling Switch game remains Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (45.3 million), followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons (38.6 million) and Super Smash Bros.† Ultimate (28.2 million).
Nintendo’s revenue was slightly lower than a year earlier due to weaker sales than during the global shutdowns. Nintendo posted sales of 1.7 trillion yen (12.8 billion euros) in the last interrupted financial year, which ended at the end of March. This is almost 4% less than a year earlier.
Net profit fell nearly 1% to the equivalent of 3.5 billion euros. Nintendo thinks sales and profits will drop further this year.
