Frontal SYRIZA – SW for the new episodes at AUTh

A political rivalry has erupted between SYRIZA and ND, on the occasion of today’s episodes at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

In his announcement, SYRIZA it’s mentioned that:

“SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance of Thessaloniki denounces and condemns the provocative disasters in the schools of AUTh as well as the unbridled violence of the MAT against students and student associations that had nothing to do with the incidents.”

He emphasizes, “that the disasters at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki serve the government’s effort to cover the political impasse created by the establishment of the police in the universities.”

Finally, he emphasizes that “the Ministry of Education and the rectory authorities of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki have the responsibility to seek a solution that will not dissolve the university, will respect the decisions of academic bodies and will be pursued without authoritarianism and escalation of violence.”

New Democracy gave an answer in the announcement of SYRIZA stating that:

“SYRIZA, which did not make a single announcement about the raid of the bahalakis with sledgehammers and the destruction of the space where a library was being built at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, came out today through its youth to report the police, who are there to protect the area and render it to university authorities and students. “Mr. Tsipras, who makes statements about everything, did not speak about the images that offend, the Greek universities themselves”.

“It is a shame that the main opposition party is covering up the destroyers. “The government is determined to put an end to lawlessness and to assist the university authorities of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki so that the space that was occupied for 34 years with the ‘so I want’, becomes a place of education and culture”, ND concludes in an announcement.

However, SYRIZA responded stating that “New Democracy, the party of lawlessness and the dissolution of public education, is trying to overcome its impasse by resorting to slander. Having the main responsibility for the transformation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki into a battlefield, it invests in polarization and destruction. She should have been more careful.

Especially today when a young man who was kept in pre-trial detention for months was finally acquitted of the fabricated accusations against him for the sad events of Nea Smyrni. So far with the cheap provocations and the set up intensity. Before it’s too late”.
