South Korea: 29 deaths and 43,925 coronavirus cases in 24 hours


The Korea Office of Disease Control and Prevention (KCDA) announced that in the 24 hours to midnight Tuesday, 43,925 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed and 29 patients succumbed to COVID-19 complications.

The death toll from the pandemic reached 23,491 deaths out of a total of 17,658,794 infections. The mortality rate remained unchanged at 0.13%.

Cases fell from 49,933 the previous day and remained below the 50,000 level for the eighth consecutive day. The spread of the virus has been slowing since mid-March, when a record 620,000 infections were recorded, the peak of the wave attributed to the most infectious variant Omicron, in particular the BA.2 subtype.
