Ukraine stops the transfer of part of Russian gas to Europe

Ukraine has closed the transit of Russian gas through one of its entry points. Ukraine had already warned against this on Tuesday and said it was due to force majeure.

According to Ukraine, gas destined for Europe will be diverted through another pipeline, but Russian gas company Gazprom says this is technically impossible. It’s almost a third of the gas that goes from Russia to Europe.

The pipeline in question crosses the Luhansk region, part of which is controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
