Sony announced the Xperia 1 IV on Wednesday. The phone is distinguished by a camera lens with an optical zoom range of 85 to 125 millimeters.
Normally phones have different lenses for different zoom ranges or people can digital or hybrid zoom. With these last options, the photos lose quality and often become a bit grainy.
The Xperia 1 IV can switch zoom ranges with a single lens without losing quality, according to Sony. The zoom lens allows you to zoom three to five times compared to the standard camera. The phone has three camera lenses in total. In addition to a standard and zoom lens, there’s also a wide-angle lens on the back.
Moreover, a depth sensor is present on the device and the camera can record 4K videos at 120 frames per second. Sony also uses its Eye AF technique to ensure that the eyes of people and animals are automatically brought into focus.
Like last year’s Xperia 1 III, the Xperia 1 IV features a 6.5-inch OLED display with an elongated 21 by 9 aspect ratio. The phone supports 4K resolution and can display 120 frames per second, making gaming and scrolling smooth.
Sony has equipped the Xperia 1 IV with a 5,000 mAh battery and a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm. The phone will be released next month, the price is still unknown.
