25 million tonnes of grain seized in Ukraine – G7 Summit


The G7 Foreign Ministers will meet at Germany later today to discuss food security which has been in the spotlight during war in Ukraine.

THE Ukraine is one of the largest exporters of cereals in the world such as wheat and sunflower oil.

Its exports face great difficulties due to the Russian presence in the Black Sea

As Skynews reports, the shortcomings and the consequent price increases leave developing countries particularly vulnerable, as they are among the most dependent on Ukrainian production.

The G7 meeting will be attended by representatives from United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, USA and European Union.

The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Moldavian will also be there, amid concerns that war may to expand in Moldova.

The German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock “There are 25 million tonnes of grain seized in the Ukrainian port of Odessa, which means food for millions of people in the world which are urgently needed, especially in African countries and the Middle East. “

“That is why we are sending a clear message today: we see you, we hear you and we support you”, were the words of the German Foreign Minister.

The summit concludes on Saturday.
