In retaliation against Sofia and Bucharest Russia is moving forward. The Russian Foreign Ministry declared 10 diplomats of the Romanian embassy and one official of the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow “personae non gratae”, in two announcements made on Friday.
The ambassadors of Bulgaria and Romania were summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday and briefed on their officials, who were declared “personae non gratae”.
In a statement on Romania, the Russian ministry said the move was in response to an “unjustified decision” by the Romanian side on April 5 to declare 10 diplomats at the Russian embassy in Bucharest “personae non gratae”.
In a statement on Bulgaria, Moscow described the measure as a response to “Reasonless decision” of Bulgaria to deport a Russian diplomat from Sofia.
