An alleged Islamist terrorist stabbed five people on a packed train before disarming a 60-year-old off-duty police officer.
According to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old Iraqi-born suspect was disarmed and arrested today after 7.40 am in Herzogenrath, a suburb of Aachen, in western Germany.
More than 200 emergency workers rushed to the scene.
German Interior Minister Herbert Ruhl praised the “enormous courage” of the police officer to intervene.
The policeman, who worked with two of his passengers to stop the attack, told BILD: “I was on my way to work, that’s all I can say.”
The alleged perpetrator was injured and taken to hospital.
Three people who were injured needed treatment without risking their lives.
