Fred Ward, a well-known actor who starred in films such as “Henry and June”, “Tremors”, “The Right Stuff” and “The Player”, died on May 8, as confirmed by his agent on Variety.
He was 79 years old.
Ward recently appeared in the second season of HBO’s “True Detective” as Eddie Velcoro, Colin Farrell’s Det retired police father.
Among his other prominent roles were appearances in “Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins”, “Miami Blues” and “Short Cuts”.
There was a retro element to the actor’s style that made Ward look more like Humphrey Bogart or John Garfield than his contemporaries, Variety writes.
