How Musk was chosen
The FT reports that they chose Musk because it triggered the historic turn of the global car industry towards electric vehicles.
“For a long time, the rest of the car industry basically called Tesla and me idiots and scams,” Musk said in an interview, according to the newspaper.
“They said that electric cars would not work, that you could not achieve range and performance. “And even if you do, no one will buy them.”
