US: Commission to investigate mistakes made in Afghanistan war

The US Congress has approved the defense budget, part of which is the formation of an independent commission to investigate the mistakes made during the 20-year war in Afghanistan.

President Joe Biden, who ordered the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in late August, is expected to sign the bill into force immediately.

The commission will look at the various phases of the war: the aid, tens of thousands of troops sent by Barack Obama in 2009, which he later recalled, the agreement reached by his successor, Donald Trump, with the Taliban to leave. of American forces until May 2021, but also the decision of George W. Bush to declare war after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
