The European Council strongly condemns the instrumentalization of migrants and refugees by its regime Belarus and the humanitarian crisis it has created. * assuring unhindered access of international organizations to Belarus and strengthening humanitarian assistance
* support for the return of migrants from Belarus
The European Council reiterates its call for the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and for an end to the repression of civil society and the independent media. Reiterates the democratic right of the people of Belarus to elect their President through new, free and fair elections.
The European Council underlines the urgent need for Russia to de-escalate tensions caused by military development on its border with Ukraine and aggressive rhetoric. The European Council reiterates its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Any further military aggression against Ukraine will have enormous consequences and serious costs in response including restrictive measures in coordination with partners.
The European Council encourages diplomatic efforts and support for the Normandy format in achieving full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Alarm for the Omicron variant
