GGP: Very high fire risk for the South Aegean region


Very high fire hazard (risk category 4) is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 21 June, for the region of South Aegean, (Rhodes Prefecture), according to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection.

For this reason, GGP advises citizens to be especially careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning debris, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, sawing devices the use of outdoor grills, the smoking of bees, the throwing of lighted cigarettes, etc. It is also reminded that the burning of fields is prohibited during the fire season. The GGP also calls on citizens in case of fire, to immediately notify the Fire Department at the call number 199.

At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection ( has informed the competent state services involved, as well as the Regions and the Municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection in order to deal immediately with any incidents of fire.
