According to the FNV union, a wildcat strike broke out among cleaning women at Schiphol. The union says campaigners are angry that not all cleaners can claim the summer bonus Schiphol recently promised staff because of the crowds at the airport.
These include cleaners who clean aircraft. A wildcat strike means that it is not organized by the union itself, but by the employees themselves. According to a spokesperson, the FNV is not directly involved. The union was asked to play the role of mediator in the dispute.
FNV director Herrie Hoogenboom is currently talking to around 100-150 activists who have gathered in the square in front of Schiphol Plaza. They want to start a dialogue with Schiphol with the member FNV and a small delegation of cleaners.
The airport claims that a group of people did indeed gather in the square. This would currently have “no impact on the operation”, is all a Schiphol spokesperson can say about it.
