US President Joe Biden said today that a visit to Ukraine is unlikely when he travels to Europe later this month to attend summits with Washington allies.

Speaking to reporters in Richobot Beach, where he spent the weekend, the US president also said he considered Ukraine very likely to join the European Union.

European leaders are expected to approve Ukraine as an official candidate this week, a move that Kyiv sees as a triumph in the midst of war with Russia.

Fuel taxes

Biden also told reporters that a decision would be made by the end of the week on whether to lift federal fuel taxes. “It simply came to our notice then. “I hope to have a decision, based on the data I am considering, by the end of the week,” he said.

The US president also commented that he wants “answers” to the question why energy companies do not refine more oil.

Referring to Apple Inc. employees in Maryland who voted in favor of forming a union on Saturday – for the first time in the US – Biden said he was “proud” of them. “Employees have the right to determine under what conditions they will work or not work,” he said.
