Iran: Ready to use advanced centrifugation for uranium enrichment

Iran further escalates uranium enrichment operationas it prepares to use advanced IR-6 centrifuges at its Fordo underground facilities, which could make it easier to switch between different levels of enrichment, according to a document from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) obtained by Reuters.

According to this, a second IR-6 centrifuge has been installed at this site, which has the ability to enrich uranium in different percentages.

In a confidential report to its member states, the IAEA said it had been informed by Iran that it had begun the process without Tehran specifying what level of uranium enrichment it intended to pursue.

According to the latest estimates of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran will soon have at its disposal a sufficient amount of 60% enriched uranium, close to the levels required to build a nuclear weapon.
