EU: France, Germany seek compromise on nuclear and gas use

France and Germany will continue talks in the coming days to find out compromise on whether the EU will designate green investment projects for the construction of power plants based on nuclear energy and natural gas.

This assurance was given by President Macron during the summit.

Paris wants to attract “green” funding for the construction of new nuclear power plants in France. Germany, on the other hand, has taken to the road to shut down its nuclear power plants and prefers to turn to natural gas, fossil fuels.

Mr Macron promised during a joint press conference with the German Chancellor, Olaf Solts, that the decision on the issue, the so-called green taxonomy, will be made public soon by the European Commission.
