Yellen: Tariffs on imported timber are not abolished

The US Treasury Secretary Janet Glenn said yesterday that President Joe Biden is not expected to withdraw tariffs on timber in Canada, as part of moves to ease tariffs being considered by the White House to fight inflation.

“As far as I know, this is not being considered, at least in the context of the president’s moves,” said Glenn, referring to the 11.64% tariffs to offset government subsidies to most Canadian timber imports to the United States.

Glenn made the remarks to reporters during a visit to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe reservation in South Dakota.
