Since most of the corona measures were lifted in February, public transport has been used more often. But compared to the pre-pandemic period, it is even quieter on trains, buses, metros and trams, reports Statistics Netherlands based on data from public transport smart card company Translink.
In May this year, public transport was checked 83.5 million times with an OV smart card. This is 64% more compared to the same month in 2021, but 23% less than in May 2019.
At the end of February, most of the corona measures were lifted, including the one and a half meter measure. A month later, on March 23, the masks were also allowed to take off on public transport.
