PlayStation Plus has been renewed: it’s like that with the different subscriptions


The renewed PlayStation Plus subscription service has been available in the Netherlands since Thursday. Sony’s service now offers multiple tiers at varying prices. In this article, we explain the differences.

PlayStation Plus is Sony’s service for its PlayStation consoles. There are now three levels: Essential, Extra and Premium.

PlayStation Plus Essential is the cheapest option at 8.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros per year. This variant has the fewest extras. Essential gives you access to online multiplayer (for games that aren’t free, like Fortnite), PlayStation Store discounts and access to two PS4 games and one PS5 game each month.

PlayStation Plus Extra is a bit more expensive. You pay 13.99 euros per month or 99.99 euros per year. You get everything in the Essential package and access a catalog with hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games. They are playable on the console after downloading.

PlayStation Plus Premium costs 16.99 euros per month or 119.99 euros per year and offers most functions. This package contains everything from Essential and Plus. It also gives subscribers access to game demos, so they can already play a bit before buying a new game. Progress from these demos carries over to the full versions of the games.
