Cisco leaves Russia and Belarus because of the war in Ukraine


Cisco, the American network equipment manufacturer, is leaving Russia and Belarus. The company reported this to the news agency on Thursday Reuters† The reason for this is the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The company already suspended business operations in Russia and Belarus in March after Russian troops invaded Ukraine. We now know that Cisco is completely withdrawing from the countries.

Cisco is far from the only company to leave Russia. On Thursday, it was also announced that Nike would leave the country because of the war. Other companies have also announced their intention to leave, such as McDonald’s and carmaker Renault.

Many tech companies have stepped in. For example, because of the war in Ukraine, Google stopped selling online ads in Russia. This policy also applies to YouTube. Facebook has blocked Russian state media pages and posts in European countries. Russia responded by blocking access to Facebook in the country.
