He reiterated his support for Ukraine’s European perspective at the Summit on Thursday. Victor Orbanhowever, insisted that he was opposed to new sanctions on Russia, citing “Europe’s troubles”.

In a Hungarian-language video posted on Facebook from the summit, the Hungarian leader complained about “newer and newer” ideas for sanctions, blaming both the war in Ukraine and sanctions for Europe’s economic woes.
“We say yes to Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, we say yes to peace and we say no to further sanctions,” he said.
