Italy: Rome in a state of natural disaster due to water shortage

Lazio, the region of the greater Rome area, was officially declared a state of natural disaster due to water scarcity. The decision was signed by Governor Nicola Gingaretti and will remain in force until November 30.

According to the Italian public television Rai, in a first phase the total amount of water that, from the pipes of the water company, reaches the houses of the Romans will be reduced.

At the same time, the possibility of stopping the flow of water to the various fountains in Rome is being considered, especially at night, as well as the possible shutdown of the drinking water fountains located in parks and streets of the Italian capital.
