Ukraine – The first case of the Omicron variant has been identified

Ukraine has identified the first case of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, Health Minister Victor Liasco said today.

He had traveled to the UAE

He is a man who recently returned to Ukraine from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Liasko said on Facebook.

So far, 3.6 million cases of COVID-19 infection and 92,929 deaths have been reported.

Recall that the government in the country from the end of December will extend the restrictions against COVID-19 for another quarter, until March 31, due to low vaccination levels, as stated on December 15 by the Prime Minister, Dennis Smigal.

“Until the level of vaccination in Ukraine reaches 70% of the population, we must comply with all the imposed restrictions,” he said during a televised government meeting.
