Italy: A 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook the region of Bergamo


A magnitude 4.4 earthquake shook the region of Bergamo in northern Italy at 11:34 local time earlier this morning.

The quake had a focal depth of 26 kilometers and its epicenter is located in the Bonate Soto area of ​​the Bergamo region.

The tremor was felt in Milan and throughout the Lombardy region and the fire service received dozens of calls from citizens.

So far there is no information on injuries and Italian media report that there was only one car accident due to the earthquake.

For precautionary reasons, the schools that were operating today in the area were evacuated and inspections are being carried out for the statics of the buildings.
