British government officials have worked out predictive models for the financial impact, which would have a possible return to telework during the holiday season, to curb the spread of the Omicron variant, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The measure was discussed at the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, without any decisions being taken.

The ministers also discussed the adoption of the measure of vaccination certificates, with many, however, expressing strong objections, according to the Telegraph.

For the time being, the government insists that there is no need for further measures and that emphasis should be placed on the booster program.

In fact, the renewed campaign for accelerating the vaccination program will be presented on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce the restrictive measures that will take effect at Christmas on December 18.

So far, 437 cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the UK.
