New measures were announced by the Ministry of Health of Cyprus for those who arrive in the country from England

The measures that will apply from today, December 18 include self-restraint, PCR test on arrival, as well as rapid test at 72 hours after entering Cyprus and concern individuals over 12 years regardless of vaccination coverage or disease.

The Cypriot government was led to this decision, because of the dramatic one increase of the Omicron variant in the United Kingdom.

The new measures for travelers from the United Kingdom are:

-Until the release of their PCR result, they are required to remain on self-restraint in their place of residence. In case of a positive result, they remain strictly in self-restraint and expect instructions from Infectious Diseases Surveillance & Control Unit of the Ministry of Health.

-On arrival, passengers receive a package containing 5 self-test, which they must use in case they have a negative result in the PCR examination performed at the airport. Passengers will take a self-test every day and in case of a positive result, they will contact their Personal Doctor in Cyprus, to refer them for PCR examination at the Public Health Clinics of their province of residence. If they do not have a Personal Doctor in Cyprus, then they will contact the Coordination of Public Health Clinics directly by email: [email protected] sending their identification (name, surname, phone number, ID number, date of birth and province), as well as a photo of their positive self-test.

-In 72 hours from their arrival, given that the previous days they had negative result in conducting the self-test, they should perform one rapid test to the mobile units of the Ministry of Health and send the result to the email: [email protected] through the website from which they will publish it (www.eudcc.gov.cy) by selecting MISSION. To be eligible for the rapid test for free, they must present their boarding pass at the sampling point.

During the first days of arrival of passengers in Cyprus, special attention is recommended and limited contacts, observance of personal protection measures (use of mask, hand hygiene, keeping distance) and avoiding physical contact with persons belonging to vulnerable groups.
