New York on Friday recorded more cases of coronavirus than any other day, in this 21-month pandemic, according to data released by the office of Governor Hotsul.

According to the data, the state recorded 21,027 cases and the daily positive rate in the tests jumped to almost 8%. Until last Saturday, the daily positive rate across the state was below 4.3%.

This increase is believed to be due to the super-contagious strain of the “Micron” virus, although the governor said in a statement that this has not been confirmed so far with data. According to Ms. Hotsul, since last Monday, masks have become mandatory indoors throughout the state. A large number of companies and multinationals are once again recommending distance work for their employees, with many Broadway productions closing the curtain again in a time of high demand, including the Christmas production “Christmas spectacular” which announced yesterday the early closing of the season.
