Britain – Omicron is pushing for new measures before Christmas

The British Minister of Health, under the pressure of the explosion of cases from the new Omicron variant, left open the possibility of imposing new stricter restrictive measures before Christmas, ie in the next few days, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, 12,133 new cases of Omicron were confirmed in the country.

There are no guarantees in this pandemic

Sadid Javid said today that the government is assessing the rapidly evolving situation and urged citizens to be especially careful as scientists look at the data. “Much is still unknown about the new variant, even as hospitals prepare for an increase in infections,” he told the BBC.

“There are no guarantees in this pandemic,” Javid said when asked about new restrictions. “At this stage we have to keep everything under control,” he said.

On this issue, the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has identified inevitable additional measures in terms of social distancing and limits on home gatherings.
