The government is on alert due to the new Omicron mutation and in view of the holidays.
A meeting was held yesterday under the Prime Minister at the Maximos Palace with an urgent character where the pandemic situation was discussed again and proposals for new measures were put on the table to avoid the worst.
In the meeting – which is one of them 3 done weekly– The Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, Professor Sotiris Tsiodras and close associates of the Prime Minister participated.
As the first information says, new measures will not be taken at this time, however it is very important to achieve the delay in the spread of Omicron in Greece.
On the other hand, it seems on the table, according to information, that new measures have been taken for the period of the Christmas holidays and even include the vaccinated, but without anything specific having been decided yet.
Among the measures proposed is mandatory rapid test in focus for vaccinated and unvaccinated, Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
In fact, the information states that such a measure is difficult to implement at Christmas, and any decisions will be made within the week and will concern the New Year and will be announced on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Note that many European countries have already moved on taking of measures, including Lockdown, under the threat of Omicron.
Finally, during the meeting, a first assessment was made of the measure applied since yesterday morning for the entry of travelers in our country, but also how the vaccinations which is the main way to protect the population.
