Britain: 14 deaths from Omicron variant – New measures open


Concerns are growing about dispersal of the Omicron variant in Britain which already counts 14 deaths from this coronavirus mutation, while are treated 129 people who have been infected with the new strain of the virus. The British Undersecretary of Health Gillian Keegan told Sky News that the British government will not hesitate to implement further restrictions due to Covid-19, if the data show that it is necessary.

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson noted on Tuesday that it would not impose new restrictions in england before christmas, but the situation remains extremely difficult and the government may need to act afterwards.

In England the self-isolation of those infected with coronavirus is reduced from 10 days to seven with double negative test.

The British Minister of Health stated that the relevant decision was taken after the recommendation of the experts. The change in the number of quarantine days applies at a time when cases of the Omicron variant are increasing in the country, causing staff shortages in health services, businesses and trains.

For those who have only received one dose of the vaccine Covid-19 and have been exposed to an outbreak of the virus, the quarantine of 10 days.
